The Lighthouse Meets The History project ran from July 2-7, 2025, with stops in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and mainly Krakow (Poland).
The main objective of the initiative was to promote greater historical awareness and active European citizenship in participants through an integrated educational program combining guided tours, workshop activities and language training.
Educational activities were structured to stimulate critical reflection on topics such as historical memory, human rights, the founding values of the European Union and the challenges of the present, with an approach centered on the active involvement of children.
The "Europe in Crisis" workshop and subsequent group activities encouraged critical thinking, peer discussion and personal reworking, while visits to symbolic sites of European memory helped build a direct link between past and present.
In parallel, English-language activities-including lectures and guided tours-fostered the enhancement of communicative competence by supporting the development of the four fundamental skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) in an authentic and challenging context.
The project ended with strong emotional and intellectual participation from the children, who approached the whole experience with interest, openness and a cooperative spirit, thus strengthening not only scholastic skills but also relational and intercultural ones.
