We are pleased to announce that the SECURE: Strengthening European Communities, Uniting Regions and Reinforcing Engagement received funding under the European programme CERV – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme of the European Commission, the project aims to strengthen the sense of European belonging, promote civic participation and counter challenges to democratic cohesion.
Coordinated by the Italian-based Cultural Association Lighthouse Languages APS, the project involves 14 partners from 13 different countries. These include local authorities, non-profit organisations and cultural institutions. The duration of the project is 24 months, during which 5 international meetings and dissemination activities will be organised at local, national and European level.
SECURE Project Objectives
The project aims to:
Promote the active participation of citizens in European political life.
RStrengthen confidence in European institutions, especially in a context marked by disinformation and populism.
Facilitate cultural exchange and dialogue between citizens from different countries, with the aim of developing a shared European identity.
To provide tools to address global challenges such as the environmental crisis, migration and economic changes, enhancing the role of active citizenship.
Main activities
Among the planned activities, the project includes:
The organisation of five international meetings to compare best practices and local strategies.
Media education and anti-misinformation initiatives.
Local launch events and awareness-raising initiatives in participating communities.
Thanks to the funding received from the CERV programme, SECURE represents a unique opportunity to strengthen democratic values and build more resilient and aware European communities.
